10 Things I tell my clients all the time

After years behind the nail desk, there are a few things I find myself saying over and over again...

1.  Please don't be scared to tell me

I'm not going to tell you off if you've lost a couple of nails. Life happens! I might, however, laugh if your dog ate one or you somehow managed to break a nail while moving furniture. I've heard some incredible stories over the years!

2.  Never apologize for being human

You don't have to be "on" for your appointment. If you're having a bad day, feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or simply don't feel like talking, that's completely okay. If you need to chat for an hour and unload everything that's happened this week, that's okay too.

3.  Trust my professional advice

You're not just paying for pretty nails—you're paying for my knowledge and experience too. If I recommend a different shape, a stronger product, a shorter length, or even a complete reset, it's because I genuinely believe it's the best option for your nails and your lifestyle.

4.  Your nails are jewels, not tools

Please don't use them to open cans, peel labels, scrape stickers, pry open boxes, or undo screws. There are tools designed for those jobs... your freshly done nails are not one of them!

5.  Comfort over catwalk

This isn't Vogue. You never need to dress up for your appointment. Come in your work clothes, your gym gear, your comfy hoodie—or even your pyjamas for all I care. I want you to feel relaxed and comfortable.

6.  Sometimes, shorter really is better

If you're very active, type all day, work with your hands, or tend to be a little accident-prone, please consider going a bit shorter. Long nails aren't a competition, and they certainly aren't for every lifestyle. I promise—shorter nails don't look "stubby"; they often look elegant, balanced, and are much easier to maintain.

7.  The 60/40 rule

About 60% of a long-lasting manicure comes from me—proper preparation, quality products, correct structure, and careful application.

The other 40% comes from you.

Follow the aftercare advice, apply your cuticle oil, avoid using your nails as tools, and give them a little TLC. They're strong, but they're not indestructible!

8.  This is a judgement-free zone

Whether you want classic nude nails or glitter on every finger, I'm here for it. Want to tell me a wild story? Go ahead. Need to sit in silence? That's fine too. Whatever you bring to your appointment, you'll always be welcomed without judgement.

9.  It's not about what I like

My job isn't to create the nails I would choose—it's to create the nails you love. Your style, your personality, your nails.

10.  Don't just buy the cuticle oil - use it!

Honestly, this is probably the one thing I repeat the most. Cuticle oil only works if it's applied! Keep one on your bedside table, one in your handbag, or one next to the couch—wherever you'll remember to use it. Your nails (and your nail technician) will thank you.

At the end of the day, my goal isn't just to give you beautiful nails—it's to help you keep them healthy, strong, and looking their best between every appointment.
